Mina Okuru

I am a communications professional with extensive experience in strategic corporate communications, public relations, and public diplomacy. My expertise spans employee engagement, media relations, advocacy campaigns, crisis management, international relations, and diaspora diplomacy. I am passionate about using communications to strengthen policy, development, and citizen engagement across Africa.

I currently contribute to advancing education and development through my role at ADEA. Previously, I served as Diaspora Engagement Manager (UK-Ghana) at the British High Commission Accra, where I managed diaspora relations across people-to-people, organizational, and government-to-government channels. At the African Union, I worked as a Support Project Manager for Citizen Engagement and Innovative Data Use for Africa’s Development. I also produce and present the Climate Smart Africa podcast.

Earlier in my career, I held leadership roles as Communications Manager for the Ghanaian-German Centre for Jobs, Migration, and Reintegration (GIZ), Communications Coordinator for Afrobarometer in Anglophone West Africa, and Communications Officer at the Ghana Center for Democratic Development. I was also the first Public Diplomacy Coordinator for the Embassy of Israel in Accra, where I developed and led the Embassy’s inaugural public and media engagement strategy.

I hold a Master’s degree in International Public Relations and Global Communications Management from Cardiff University, and I am a 2017 Chevening Scholar, a YALI RLC West Africa Fellow, and an Africademics Scholarship Mentor and Ambassador.
