I am an energy specialist and strategic thinker dedicated to helping governments and the private sector develop innovative, scalable solutions for sustainable economic development and improved livelihoods. I currently serve as Manager of Utility Innovation at the Global Energy Alliance for People & Planet (GEAPP), where I develop and execute utility innovation strategies and projects powered by renewable energy (RE).
With over a decade of experience in the energy sector, I have led the design and implementation of frameworks, initiatives, projects, and business models to promote power sector transformation and energy access. Previously, I was the Advisor and Deputy Head for Sustainable Energy Access (On-Grid & Off-Grid) at the Nigerian Energy Support Programme (NESP), a technical assistance initiative co-funded by the European Union and German Government and implemented by GIZ. At NESP, I spearheaded scalable models such as the Interconnected Mini-Grid Acceleration Scheme (IMAS), which enabled utilities to partner with private developers to deliver grid-connected renewable energy to underserved communities. Additionally, I supported donor coordination and facilitated knowledge exchanges across energy programs in Sub-Saharan Africa.
Earlier in my career, I worked with a utility to implement and manage national integrated power projects, contributing to a 2,000 MW increase in Nigeria’s electricity generation capacity. As the first female operations and maintenance engineer at the 450 MW Ihovbor/Benin Gas-Fired Power Plant, I championed gender inclusion and encouraged greater female participation within the utility sector.
I hold a Master’s degree in Engineering, Technology, and Business Management from the University of Leeds, UK, and a BEng. from Covenant University, Nigeria. I am a certified renewable energy professional, a Mandela Washington Fellow of the U.S. Young African Leaders Initiative (YALI), and an alumna of the African Leadership University’s Africa Industrial Internet Programme (AIIP).
