I am a Senior Research Officer at the Examinations Council of Zambia (ECZ), with a strong interest in coordinating and conducting educational and assessment research to support informed, evidence-based decision-making for the Ministry of Education (MoE), ECZ, and both local and international education stakeholders and partners.
In my role, I have participated in national-level activities involving educational research, program design and management, implementation, evaluation, and reporting of country- and system-level educational sector programs and policies. I have provided technical expertise and support to more than seven national-level projects. In 2023, I was a member of the National Technical Center that led the Assessment of Minimum Proficiency Levels project in Zambia, which measured learning outcomes at the end of lower and upper primary levels against global minimum standards in reading and mathematics.
I am highly skilled in strategic planning and implementation. One of my key achievements is the development of the Examinations Council of Zambia 2021–2025 Strategic Plan. I am also proficient in designing resourceful stakeholder and policy dialogue engagement models. Notably, in 2021, I designed a blended stakeholder engagement model that enabled the successful resumption of Zambia’s annual national examination performance review meetings after a two-year hiatus. This model increased participation by Ministry of Education stakeholders by 300% and expanded coverage to all 116 District Education Offices in Zambia.
Academically, I hold a Bachelor of Arts with Education from the University of Zambia (2010), a Diploma in Psychosocial Care, Support, and Protection from Chalimbana University, Zambia (2014), a Master of Arts in Geography from Jawaharlal Nehru University, India (2016), a Master of Social Science in Didactics from Linköping University, Sweden (2017), and a Master of Science in Educational Research from the University of Bristol, United Kingdom (2022).
My research interests focus on quality improvement in education, teaching and learning, educational assessments, and learning achievement. Through my extensive experience and academic background, I am committed to advancing educational practices and outcomes in Zambia and beyond.
